Description
The AL-300 stereo cassette deck is Alpage's top of the line model. Soon after its debut, audio magazines such as SON and Hi-Fi Video started putting it to the test. It was tested against the best 3-head cassette tape decks on the market. And it invariably came out tops!
The deck has a 3-head design with independent recording and playback heads. This allows ideal gapping - a wide gap for recording and a narrow gap for playback. The erase head on the consists of a highly magnetic Sendust chip mounted on a ferrite core. This head is very effective in erasing metal tapes. Also, by just flicking a switch, its possible to compare instantly the sound quality of the tape with the signal source.
The AL-300 is designed for use with metal tape and the tape selector determines the best bias and equalization levels for metal as well as Cr, FeCr and Normal tapes.
The drive mechanism assures uniform tape tension and stable tape-to-head contact. Controls are governed by IC Logic, so operation is easy and effortless, and electronic signal path switching ensures that highest fidelity is maintained.
Equipped with independent Dolby calibration for left and right channels, and also independent bias adjustment controls, the built-in test oscillator enables the user to determine ideal bias and Dolby levels for optimum performance.
The AL-300 comes with a removable function panel and a five-metre cable for remote control operation. Available separately is a time switch that allows automatic recording or playback at pre-designated times.
All in all, the AL-300 is a cassette tape deck that the Hi-Fi enthusiast can fully appreciate!
